WILDOMAR COMMUNITY COUNCIL FAILS TO MAKE FULL DISCLOSURE OF CORNERSTONE CONNECTION

Once again, how key member’s of Wildomar’s former volunteer committees have abetted Cornerstone’s attempts to exert influence over the City of Wildomar is made evident to the taxpayers of Wildomar but only after a Valley News story about the Street Fair and Car Show is posted on Friday, August 29, 2008.  According to the news release, “Cornerstone Motorsports has been asked to manage the entire car show portion of the event.”

During the City Council meeting of August 27, 2008, the leaders of the Wildomar Community Council (“WCC”) talked about everything but Cornerstone Community Church’s significant involvement in their event.  Instead, they only pushed to get approval of “up to $1,500″ of Wildomar tax dollars, leaving out the information that a group affiliated with Cornerstone Community Church would be involved.

Now that Wildomar Magazine knows, WM wants to go on record, once again, that the City of Wildomar has no business doing promotional business with the WCC, using tax dollars, or with a church that wants to increase its’ membership with the public event it participates in.

Please understand, true believers,  that it is the nature of evangelical churches, not to mention the descendants of old-line pentecostal churches like Cornerstone, to want to grow in size.  “Grow or die” is the mantra of church growth.

Growth, of course, happens for churches with publicity and outreach and the Street Fair and Car Show is publicity and outreach. And Zak’s tax dollars should not be supporting that effort.

The presenters at the Council meeting were aware that disclosure of Cornerstone’s involvement would entail opposition, if only from Wildomar Magazine.  Therefore, they were sneaky and disingenuous in seeking the support of the City without being forthcoming about Cornerstone’s involvement.

Sneaky and disingenuous is, however, par for the course in Wildomar, especially if you are trying to sneak your church under the city’s banner.

You may send any comments to zakturango@excite.com.  In order to make full disclosure, please be advised that Cornerstone Community Church does not support any known activity, or ministry, of Wildomar Magazine, to the best of Zak’s knowledge.  Why would they?
